The community worth joining is not ours

The decisions that will affect your passport programme are made in standards and regulatory bodies, not in a vendor forum. Those are linked first, because that is where the work is.

Where do Digital Product Passport practitioners discuss implementation?

Primarily in the standards and regulatory bodies: CEN-CENELEC JTC 24 develops the European passport standards, the CIRPASS work informs the data model, and GS1 member organisations run practical implementation groups for identifiers and supply chain event data. Those are where decisions affecting implementers are made.

That is a more useful answer than pointing you at a vendor forum. A change agreed in JTC 24 will reach your field list; a thread in a Discord will not.

Where the work happens

Bodies worth following

External links, none of them ours. If you implement passports seriously, these are the groups whose output you will end up reading.
  • CEN-CENELEC JTC 24

Developing the European standards for Digital Product Passports. What it agrees becomes what you have to implement.

  • CIRPASS

The EU-funded work that informed the passport data model most implementations are converging on.

  • GS1 member organisations

Where identifiers actually come from, and where the practical Digital Link and EPCIS groups run.

Where we actually are

These are the accounts that exist. We have deliberately not listed a forum, a Discord or a chat community, because we do not run one.

Frequently asked questions

Do you run a community forum or Discord?

No, and we would rather say so than link one that turns out to be empty. If enough people implementing passports want a place to compare notes, that is worth doing properly — tell us and we will gauge whether there is real appetite rather than creating a server nobody posts in.

Where does the real discussion happen?

In the standards and regulatory bodies. CEN-CENELEC JTC 24 is developing the European passport standards, CIRPASS informs the data model, and GS1 member organisations run the practical implementation groups for identifiers and event data. Those are where decisions that affect you are actually made.

Can we compare notes with other implementers?

Often, yes — ask us. Where two customers are working through the same delegated act and both are willing, an introduction is usually more valuable to them than anything we could write. We will not connect you without asking both sides first.

How do I keep up with regulatory changes?

The analysis index is updated as instruments are adopted and revised, with revision dates shown rather than publication dates. For anything that materially changes a deadline, we would rather tell customers directly than hope they read a blog.

Next step

Want an introduction to another implementer?

Where two organisations are working through the same delegated act and both agree, that conversation is usually worth more than anything we could publish.
